Project overview
Xertilox is a secure digital-identity wallet that lets people verify once and reuse their ID wherever it’s needed. I was responsible for the end-to-end product design of the mobile app, taking it from early flows through to a public release on iOS and Android.
The app helps users add their documents, complete face verification and liveness, and share verified attributes with organisations for things like Right to Work and driving-licence checks. My goal was to make complex, compliance-heavy journeys feel simple, trustworthy and fast, while keeping users in control of their data.
Approach
I worked directly with the company CEO to create the first iteration of the app, starting with a quick UX audit of the existing flows and mapped the full set of checks and edge cases. From there I defined the core journeys: onboarding, wallet creation, document capture, face verification, consented sharing, and handling employer requests. I prototyped the high-risk moments (camera capture, liveness, error recovery) and iterated with stakeholders to reduce friction and cognitive load.
I built a lightweight design system with tokenised variables to speed up delivery across iOS and Android, documented component behaviour and states, and ensured WCAG 2.2 AA colour and type choices for accessibility.
Outcome
The app shipped publicly on both app stores and now underpins Xertilox’s “verify once, reuse anywhere” proposition. The mobile design system is now used across new features and aligned with the web experience, enabling faster iteration and a consistent brand feel for users and partners.
